The Season of Silver Linings by Christine Nolfi

3.0

Besides having a gorgeous cover, this was a delightful and charming “second chances” title by Christine Nolfi.

It’s the third book in the Sweet Lake series but can easily be read without the first two. I loved this quote at the beginning which sums up a little about the Jada, Cat and Linnie and the Wayfair Inn.

“The three women had spent the better part of their 20s rooming together in the south wing, struggling to drag the Wayfair out of the red, sharing the best years of their youth in drafty suites laid out side-by-side. A sense of loss still lingered in Jada for all those times they chatted long into the night, sharing their deepest thoughts and secrets. Back then, the wing’s heating barely worked, and they never knew if the Wayfair would soon be shuttered, sending them and the depleted staff into the unemployment lines. But Jada cherished every trial they had overcome, how the sense of working for the higher good of the town deepened their friendship. Cat and Linnie were more than besties now. They were her sisters, forged to her heart forever.”

Jada was a funny and flawed and honest main character. I found myself connected to her and her struggles. She was likeable and someone I could see being friends with. She was conscious of the repercussions of getting involved with Philip and didn’t make the decision lightly.

I loved the older women of the community known as the Sirens. I hope I’m half as sassy and wise as they are!

This was a lovely, refreshing book about the importance of family and learning from the past. I’m excited to go back and read the first two books to learn more about Cat and Linnie.
