I had a bit of a rough start with this book. The first couple chapters are a little annoying, I will admit. However, it did still draw me in. While not perfect, I do think River is a fairly good unreliable narrator. I was pretty interested in her and the Graces’ secrets, but it was the only thing keeping me going because this book was very slow. The plot really only picks up around halfway through. I think the writing style was the saving grace of this book because Eve has great writing that somewhat makes up for the lackluster characters. I did burn through this book, but if I had to describe my feelings about it in one word I’d say “alright”. Maybe try it out if you’re into witchcraft; I think that was done well.
