As a major history buff I was hoping for more on the war end and this book switched from war to consequences and aftermath around a third of the way through. Hence my not-quite-perfect score. However, the character development was terrific and yet again Kristin Hannah manages to get me emotionally invested in characters while simultaneously shedding light on a horrific situation. All around a phenomenal book by one of the best authors of the 21st century.
