This felt the like perfect book to read going into the start of autumn (or at least the false fall that comes before second summer in Georgia). The pacing was well done, and I became completely entranced with the characters as the POVs shifted.

The plot had the ideal amount of realism and absurdity for me, where I still felt completely rooted in the story even as it took surreal turns. The ending made a lot of sense, but it felt somehow lacking to me, which was most of what influenced my rating.

When I first finished it it felt a little incomplete, but I think the longer I sit with it the more whole it feels. But that's my favorite kind of novel; the one that sticks in your brain and can change your opinion as it starts to sink in!

One might say like a house can sink into a bog?
