Bat Boy by Christina Lee

2.0

I was excited to dive in, I had expectations cos I loved some of Christina Lee's works before and especially after reading the blurb. But then, I noticed Bat Boy had mostly the same premises to Riley Hart's Fired Up. With one of the guys having a brother with autism who's friendly with his prospect lover, one guy who wasn't out yet and having first time gay experiences, one who is a sports guy, even the last part where Brady's brother celebrated his birthday then got an amazing surprise is almost the exact same with the events on Aston's bro's birthday party. It was like re-reading the same story only with little tweaks to appear different. This one didn't offer me something new which as a result didn't make me feel connected with the characters.

It took me more days to finish than I intended cos midway through reading I'd lost interest already. I hadn't even paid attention to details anymore. It feels like I know what's gonna happen next and I was right. I'm sorry. I feel guilty that I feel this way cos the story is good. It's just... it didn't feel like that to me. I powered through anyway cos I'm excited for Girard and Maclain's story and I don't want to miss out on anything later on. Hopefully we'll get a good one with Home Plate.
