Principles: Life and Work by Ray Dalio

3.0

I got this book because my boss at work wanted our group to consider it. To be honest, I haven't read this book from cover to cover. I enjoyed Ray Dalio's autobiographical section at the beginning, which is well written, engaging, and shares a lot of his accumulated wisdom. The next section was about life principles, which was okay, but a little more tedious, because he repeats a lot of the same "wisdom" over again, this time couched as principles to live by. By the time I got to work principles, we weren't talking about it at work any longer. Most of the group had rejected Dalio as too harsh and Machiavellian. Personally, I find his candor refreshing, but the details of his company's work structure don't really interest me enough to invest more time into this book.
