Did not finish book. Stopped at 0%.

Within the first 10 pages, the author extensively describes the mc’s skin tone using nature metaphors  and plays up how “exotic” it makes her seem and how ambiguous she appears. Obviously the author is white and other reviews told me her treatment of race doesn’t improve throughout the book so not sure what all the 5 star reviews are about here.
