The Unfortunates by Kim Liggett

3.0

This wasn’t a literary masterpiece by any means but it was definitely the equivalent of B rate horror movies. That said I enjoyed it, I usually enjoy the B rate stuff. The main character was definitely a ‘that rich kid’ stereotype. Meaning you are reminded multiple times throughout the book that it’s hard living up to familial expectations and the others struggles of the well to do. That being said, he seems to have some development throughout the story. The big shocking twist is one I probably should have seen coming from a mile away, it’s pretty cookie cutter standard. Even with it being a very simplistic and short story, I found it entertaining and enjoyable.
