Temptation by Robin Covington

4.0

The first two-thirds/three-quarters of this novel was FANTASTIC. I loved both Kit and Max's characters--the dual first-person POV was a bit different, but I liked it. It worked here. Robin Covington did a great job of amping up the tension and drama--for a while there, I could have sworn the pages were turning themselves! There was a lot of humor mixed in with steamy sexy times--perfect :) Occasionally, I could even read out loud to my daughter some of the parts that made me make an audible noise while reading (laugh, snort, gasp--sometimes all three!) when she heard me and said, "What??" (Other scenes had to be heavily edited, though. Or just talked over in very vague terms--she's only fifteen, after all. Isn't that what the internet's for, anyway? ;))

Speaking of responsible parenting, Max's mother was awesome. She's not in it much, but the bits that she is (especially when Max is getting in trouble) she's stellar.

The last part--don't get me wrong, it still earned a solid four stars--just didn't seem to be quite as tightly written as the beginning. It felt like the characters lost their focus a bit and didn't seem to quite have the same sense of purpose as they had earlier on. There was a fair amount of waffling (Kit especially) taking place, and the events here were a bit more predictable, with relatively quick and easy fixes.

But...the ending was cute--and did I mention I loved the characters?--making it an enjoyable read overall.
