When I found this book on the shelf I didn’t think it would be an erotic novel as I never heard of “Teleny”before. The one thing that made me get it was the author, Oscar Wilde, but apparently no one is really sure if he was the one who wrote it. The storyline is honestly uninteresting but I guess for the time of its publication the descriptions of the love affair between the two main characters were considered shocking and exciting. To me, parts of the story (specially the rape scene) were unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the main story (and made me regret purchasing and reading it).
