“We make decisions based on what we think is right at the time, and those consequences can follow us, but they don't govern the path we're on forever. It's what we take from that experience and how we allow it to impact the choices we make as we move forward that mean the most.”

I know that I've had mixed reactions to her books in the past, but I had hopes for The Good Luck Charm because I really liked the sound of the blurb with the hockey element and a second chance romance. In the end, there were things that let me down and made me enjoy the story less than I thought I would. I still like the hockey element and how it focuses on the superstitions of the players and how they all have their pre-game rituals. BUT. I can't say the same about the second chance romance. It can be a great trope when done right, but in this case there is no slow building up of the relationship nor does Ethan have to work to gain forgiveness for his past behavior at all. It's basically all hormones and Lilah finding him 'too hot to resist'... Which was SO frustrating as I always hate having a pushover as a female character. Ethan also didn't respect her at all and kept pushing himself on her; Lilah basically putting her life on hold to accomodate him. Ugh. The sheer amount of steamy scenes and the constant repetition of their physical attraction got old fast too, but it was mainly the failed second chance romance trope and the way both main characters behaved that prevented this story to be a success for me.
