The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

1.0

I wanted to like this book as the premise sounded great and had so much potential.

When I started reading I was immediately overcome by a concerned confusion that got worse with every chapter. Had I somehow gotten a copy of the very first draft of the book? A draft void of characters with personalities, without a structured storyline, where the author obviously hasn't done enough research to understand the bodyguard occupation.

Then confusion turned into frustration the more I read. The characters are ridiculously immature. The protagonist, who is supposed to be a "badass" bodyguard, seems to do nothing but cry and be terrible at her job. Heck, everyone at the agency she works for come off as though this is their first real-life operation, and all their experience comes from watching Miss Congeniality.

I honestly have no idea why this book has such a high average score.
