月刊少女野崎くん 1 [Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun 1] by 椿いづみ

4.0

Chiyo Sakura has a huge crush on Umetarou Nozaki!

But, when she finally decides to confess, things don’t exactly go as planned.

Sakura expected to maybe be rejected. She hoped her feelings might be returned. But, she never expected to be recruited…to be Nozaki’s assistant!

Turns out, when he’s not being a diligent high school student, Nozaki is actually a shoujo manga artist! And, he’s had his eye on Sakura…at least, on her artistic talent!

While it’s not the attention she expected, Sakura will take it! She decides to join Nozaki’s ragtag manga team!

Quickly, though, Sakura realizes that while Nozaki makes his living writing these sweet romances, he’s quite dense when it comes to actual matters of the heart. Daft, really. Completely oblivious, you might say. (And, you’d be right!)

Can Sakura teach him a few things about romance? Or, will this whole relationship only end in heartbreak?

This is such a FUNNY and wholesome start to what seems to be a sweet romcom series! I absolutely died laughing at some of the skits in this one! I really appreciate the author’s attention to not only developing story but also to comedy— we’ve got a good blend of situational and conversational comedy!

Highly recommend this one, especially for any romcom fans out there looking for a unique, somewhat meta approach to the typical meet-cute~
