Running Girl by Simon Mason

3.0

Purchased for the school library, I am not sure that it will appeal to Australian teenagers. A bright disengaged teenager gets involved in investigating the death of a girl he had briefly dated. Set in an unnamed UK city, the story is told through a combination of narrative perspectives including a number of "police interviews". These can be very annoying with any involving Garvie, the central character, having a description including "aspect: cute". I do not know who thinks he is cute but it's not the reader. Neither Garvie, whose family originates from Barbados, or the central police officer who is a turban-wearing Sikh seem more than cultural stereotypes.
