Angel Catbird Volume 2: To Castle Catula (Graphic Novel) by Margaret Atwood

3.0

I was really excited to see the second volume of Margaret Atwood's Angel Catbird graphic novel hit shelves. However, I was a bit disappointed in the narrative. Our heroes spend most of the time--as the title suggests--walking to Count Catula's castle.

There are a couple histories told along the way--including Count Catula's--but that doesn't do much to move the overarching story along.

I was also really disappointed in Angel Catbird's response to meeting Atheen-owl (an owl woman descended from the Greek goddess Athena). The love triangle she creates between Cate, Angel, and her is unnecessary and honestly makes me dislike our hero. And two strong female characters fighting over a man? No thank you.

Do not get me started on Count Catula's multiple wives.

I wanted more from this graphic novel, even if it's just a fun excuse to teach cat facts.
