This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger

5.0

A modern classic. I wrote it off in the beginning, often mocking the title with a country twang. It takes a lot to admit when you're wrong, but this is one of those cases where I missed the mark entirely. I'm not usually into these feel-good, homeland type stories, but this makes me think I've been wrong the entire time.

It's 400 pages long, but I didn't want it to end. That says a lot.
