The Last by Michael John Grist

4.0

Disclosure: I received a free audible copy of this via Audiobookboom.com for an unbiased review.

I know, another zombie book. I have a weakness for them and I liked this one. Reasonably well-developed characters, good plot, and an original twist on the zombies, which I won't spoil. The audio narration is well-done, with a voice appropriate to the main character, Amo. Most of the story is told from the Amo's point of view, which largely works. There are a few times when he drifts off into reveries that get a little boring or repetitious, but not many. I enjoyed this so much, I immediately went in search of the next book in the series. It looks like this is the only volume in audio as of yet, but the kindle omnibus of books one thru three is free on Amazon, so I snapped that up. If you enjoy zombie or apocalypse tales, I recommend this series.
