this book is everything I want in a fiction novel wrapped up in a beautiful bow (that comes at a certain cost): a well researched novel that educates about a particular time period (mid 19th century), and theme (colonialism). babel manages to embed this incredible historical accuracy into a beautiful, heart wrenching story with a unique cast of characters caught in quite a journey. very raw upon just finishing this beauty, may circle back to jot down some more coherent thoughts. just, wow. and ow.
Graphic: Murder, Xenophobia, Misogyny, Racism, and Racial slurs
Moderate: Child abuse
