The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

3.0

It was a very sweet, cozy read. The writing reminded me of Roald Dahl, especially the uptight, over-the-top characters and classifications of departments like "Extremely Upper Management". If you like magical children and like warm, light hearted reads from the perspective of a middle aged man set on an island, you'll probably enjoy this. My only criticism is that there wasn't too much conflict or climax and everything was easily wrapped up. I did like the quirky children. The central theme seemed to be about how a very by-the-book, dutiful employee Linus who lived a very small life (and has never seen the ocean) visits the orphans who live in the house in the cerulean sea, and it changes his entire world view. I would recommend it as a book you can take on beach vacation
