Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe

3.0

i wanted to read this and see what all the huff was about considering it’s a banned book across the nation. spoiler: there’s nothing to huff over unless you can’t say the words sex, gender, sexuality, and feelings without having a full body reaction. i don’t know what age group this is taught or presented for, but i think this would be very helpful for the young babes out there that are struggling with identity and/or haven’t given it much thought. the inclusion of different identities and different pronouns was rly cool—i haven’t seen those types of pronouns used and it took a while to get in the swing of reading, but i think i got it! it was also a comic book which i loveeee to read. it was a memoir and beautifully told. i do wish the book was a bit more chronologically ordered but i’m probs nitpicking.
