Oh this was wonderful.

I am comfortable enough with Robin Hobb to dive into a trilogy and know for a fact that not one word she writes is meandering or digressing. It’s slow, yes, but that is what makes it so good.

Flying through the first third of the novel and all the years Fitz spends with Molly is splendid. The middle slows down and we truly experience the signature slice-of-life storytelling that keeps pulling me back to this world, and the final pages are a banger of surprises and action.

This entire series is so deeply driven by relatable characters that it’s a sure-fire win each time I read the next book. This was no different. I loved seeing Fitz age.
I sobbed with him for the inevitable loss of his wife.
I loved Bee’s POV more than I expected. Robin Hobb keeps proving she has this craft mastered.
