I feel like I just went through war reading this book. this author killed me. I feel like I was transferred to another world and now have to come back to reality, remembering it was all just fiction, despite the fact that all these characters feel SO real. This is the darkest book I’ve ever read and is *NOT* a romance, if anything it feels more like horror/thriller but it does have a romance being set-up. Kind of 90% plot and story and 10% romance being built up. I think this is what made it better for me because I like how everything was handled. If anyone’s curious about this book, PLEASE find all the trigger warnings cuz this book is pitch black dark. I don’t usually read books like this but I’ll read literally anything Jessie Walker at this point. After Every Breath After, i’ll have read every book she’s written. New favorite author 100%.
Graphic: Death, Gun violence, Rape, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Violence, Blood, Trafficking, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder, Fire/Fire injury, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Drug abuse, Suicidal thoughts, and Vomit
Minor: Pedophilia
The rape in this book is written on page. If you are uncomfortable with this do not read. It’s not done for shock value and is handled well, but it is graphic.
