Night Myst by Yasmine Galenorn
Did not finish book.
I thought this might be some self-indulgent, trashy fun to break up the frustration of another book I've been reading at the same time, but it wasn't to be. The dialogue is unnatural, the exposition is clunky, the main character's past and relationship with her mother feel like that Super Cool Punk Original Character from the Harry Potter fanfic half of us wrote as kids rather than anything remotely believable... I honestly wanted to enjoy this book, and I have nothing against anyone who does or even the writer herself, but I'm long past reading this level of writing.
