The Mars House by Natasha Pulley

3.75

I enjoyed the Mars world/society building. The societal struggles don’t have a clear reflection in real life. There is a fear of transgender people, there is a fear of undocumented immigrants; but all of that is unfounded. Transgender people and undocumented immigrants are much less likely to commit violence than they are to be victims of it (from cis citizens). Having the Mars culture be afraid of Earth Strong people, and have that risk be legitimate made this book be a lot less powerful then it could be.
