The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold

dark informative sad medium-paced

4.0

Some great work put into this! These five women were shamed by so many, their stories stuffed with assumptions and false scandal. But after all these years, this author somehow got the most detailed background on them together to draw a lively portrait of their lives. There is lots of historical context provided as well, so I learned a lot from this. It also helped to distinguish the five women, as they have been plagued by the same circumstances for a part. So well done, and a very interesting view into a few different lives in these times.
