The Lido by Libby Page

5.0

I seriously did not want this book to end!

We follow Rosemary, an 87 year old woman who lost her husband George of over 60 years and has lived in the same flat in Brixton for all of her married life. Her and George would frequent the Lido almost daily.

Kate, is a young Journalist for the local Brixton paper and is assigned the story of the Lido closure. Kate suffers from panic attacks and since moving to London, has not made many friends.

Once they both meet at the Lido they hit it off straight away, with one common goal... to save Brockwell Lido!

This is not just a story about saving a local Lido, it is about the consequences on loneliness, the strength of a community and unexpected friendships.

The characters really did strike a chord with me and I really felt like I got to know them. I also really liked the structure, and the short paragraphs made the book really flow well. I absolutely adored this book and would highly recommend to anyone and everyone! All the stars!
