The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

1.0

I did not enjoy this audiobook, and I don’t think reading a print copy would have helped; I may have given up on it if I’d done that.

As it stands, it was difficult for me to focus on what was happening, and as the book droned on, I lost all sympathy for Theo. I appreciated his humanity and utter imperfection, but that’s about it. I enjoyed the book’s minor characters far more than its main ones.

The ending is what really killed this for me. It was so cheesy and pretentious that it made me very close to considering the book a complete waste of my time. It feels bad to say that, but it’s the truth.
