This was a book that I knew I was going to enjoy before getting it. I was amazed at the amount of information and honesty that was added to the book. Both in the very first pages and within them. Once I had finished it, I knew I was right. So right it took me a few days to find out how I would end up writing the review.
Let me start by saying that you will find a happy ending book but not in the think.romance and fairytale ending way. Then you need to grab this book.
I do want to give a warning, this book does talk about death and cancer. It’s part of the plot. But I would say it is more of a side thought. So let's really start talking about the book.
We open it with Colleen who is an up and coming lawyer. Traveling to see her dying father, taking him on one last pirate treasure hunting trip. This is when things take a turn for the worst. Jumping over a lot of the story, (cause we dont give spoilers here). Colleen finds herself in the past. The question is, will the past lead Colleen to the future she wants. Or will it lead her to the future she needs?
This book had a lot of research put into it. I loved that as soon as you opened the book. There was thank you's, a personal letter from Kiefer, and drawings with informational info about ships. From what I read everything was right. Which as a sailor made me jump for joy. I loved how even after Keifer told us everything she wrote about had been from research and learning about pirates when she started writing this. She put in all the information needed to make the story, and a little extra to make it believable.
This was a book that the storyline drew you in. The characters added to the story, while each being different and brought the plot together. I liked how the story ended. Giving us the closure that we needed with the story. I felt like there were a few unanswered questions. The thing I realized after sitting on it for a few days. This opened the story more. Leading us to think after we had finished the story. This was one of the reasons that we gave “Wicked Folly” a 10/10 rating.
If you were looking for that short read that will make you feel all the feelings. Then you need to give “Wicked Folly” a try. If you do it soon enough, they may even send you a first edition!
Thank you A. Kiefer for sending me your book. I enjoyed this boat ride very much.
