I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

dark emotional inspiring sad tense fast-paced

5.0

I read this book in a day which I’m not sure if I recommend since it’s very heavy and has lots of triggers for people. With that said this book is amazing and I felt like I really heard Jennette’s voice. She truly has a gift of writing and I was happy to see her title on Google is “American Writer” rather then “Actress ”.

I’ve rewatched icarly recently and in a way feel guilty for that. Knowing all the trauma she was going through filming the show in her personal life and on set with “The Creator” who we all know is Dan Schneider. It’s inspiring however to see her come on the other side of everything.

She took back control of her life. By writing this book she took back control. It’s amazing to read the progress and see the strength that she has through all her hardships. Her book is a good reminder not to put people, even if they’re family, on a pedestal. At the end of the day they are just a person capable of hurting you as much as any other person you could come across. Not saying we should all be paranoid, but to not excuse the feelings we get toward someone. All our feelings and emotions are valid and it’s okay to recognize and understand them.
