I am not one to judge someone for what they like. But man, I cannot understand the cult following of this book series. The kindest thing I can say about this book is that it is written like a wattpad story (which is a very high compliment for some fourteen year olds! just not for fully grown women)

Let’s dive in:

- the writing ???? Even though I listened as an audiobook, I could tell the prose was lacking. Repetitive and often even juvenile phrasing/structure. Again, it very much felt like it was written as fanfiction.

- i’m sorry but some of those adjectives and descriptors were awful. What do you mean he kissed her consensually with “predatory intent?” What do you mean your “bowels turned watery with fear?” What do you mean he licked her eyelashes???? The one word i kept repeating to myself was “why.” Why ! why ! why!

- a lot of the “spicy” scenes are borderline, if not literally, sexual assault. I’m just supposed to ignore the fact that this man practically rapes Feyre and it’s praised as a ‘smut’ scene? I’m just supposed to ignore how the character who drugs her every night and assaults her is redeemed and seen by avid readers as sexy / drool worthy? Ladies, this is not smut. Nor is it good romance writing. You should not be desiring interactions in your own life that resemble the ones in this book.

All in all, i admit it was entertaining. What I don’t understand is the cult like following and unhealthy obsession over these fictional characters.

Maas is also a zionist and used Breonna Taylor’s death to promote a recent book so I don’t really give a sh*t.
