The Long Game by Elena Armas

4.0

Wow! Armas keeps getting better and better! Adalyn’s entire life is upended, and it was a lot of fun to find out why. We aren’t initially privy to why she did what she did to go viral, so you wonder through the entire book. It’s a good way to keep you wondering and interested. She’s also thrown completely out of her element, which of course, allows her to grow and understand what really matters to her. Enter Cam (Cameron), a British former goalie in hiding, coaching a youth girls football (soccer for the Americans) team. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding why he quickly retired, so there’s more to discover about him from the start, He calls her love and I love that. It starts as a slow burn, and then builds to an explosion.

There are a few sexy scenes, and there’s cursing throughout the book. I always skip them so I don’t know what the sex scenes are like. Overall, I liked their arc. They’re cute together and it’s a sweet story.
