More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer

”We all push sometimes, just to make sure someone is on the other side pushing back”

minor spoilers

This story always seems to amaze me. No matter how many times I read it I will never get tired of it.

“More Than We Can Tell” is a story about acceptance, love, journeys, and struggles that many face within our lives.

This is the second book in the Letters to the Lost universe. The main characters of the first book, Juliet and Declan are secondary characters within this book, while Rev gets his time to shine along with a new character, Emma.

My review of the first book was centered around characterization, but I’m going to make this one about the writing and message of the story in general.

I love the way Brigid Kemmerer writes. I have never been quiet about that. The way her characters are imperfect, and how her stories only take place in a few days but it seems like a lifetime. There are many minor things that she does that just change your whole reading experience.

And not only is her writing good but the message is too. This story portrays the struggles and messages of having an abusive parent, being in a foster home, being adopted, parents being divorced, misogyny online, along with some minor discussion of racism.

Though, I do love this story I do have one dislike. That would be the fact that she kind of gives Declan’s father a redemption. The author makes him seem like someone who didn’t hurt Declan and as though all is forgiven just because he is a man and human too.

For my final collection of thoughts, I mostly have to say that I wish there was more stories in this universe and that I am sad there is not. Though, that I am glad these two stories exist because they are a great addition to my life and bookshelf, and I hope that they will be for you as well <3
