This book is a heartbreaking look at Jeannette McCurdy’s life and rise to fame as a child actor. She is vulnerable and opens up about dealing with mental illness, and abusive narcissistic mother, and her eating disorder. This book has a lot of triggering topics but it’s well worth the read.
The way McCurdy tells her story is so well written that it gripped me from the beginning. I liked the short chapters so I could pick it up whenever I had a few spare moments. Some of the topics were relatable for me and it made me feel seen at times. I admire and respect Jennette’s raw honesty and bravery in writing this book.
