What a novel. This book will not be for everyone. However, if you can appreciate the beauty of Young’s sentences, if you can find  meandering through her prose not just pleasant but revelatory, if you follow the circuitous paths, you will be rewarded with one of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous piece of prose ever written by an American.
