Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories, by Agatha Christie

3.0

Agatha Christie’s writing is consistently enjoyable - she always manages to avoid making murder mysteries dark and disturbing, and the peculiarities of her characters make them interesting and reliable.
I enjoyed being able to dip in and out of this short story collection but I felt that a major drawback was that it did become formulaic very quickly. Christie’s writing, like many mysteries must follow an established pattern to some extent, but when the reader has twenty short stories in rapid succession, they are unable to escape the predictability of it, regardless of how unique the individual plots may be.
