Divine By Choice by P.C. Cast
4.0
This is such a fun book! I had read Divine by Mistake and had always wanted to come back and read this follow-up.
It was like a time capsule, recalling movies, TV shows, and cultural events of the time that Shannon lived in Broken Arrow. And then, when reading about her time in Parthelon, a fabricated fantasy land, P.C. Cast made it more relatable by including familiar Greek mythology.
Shannon's sassy way of talking could be construed as a caricature, but what she said was endearingly self-deprecating. I was "in her head" along with her, which is always a great way to be on the side of a book's protagonist.
I felt guilty pleasure reading the sex scenes, and necessarily plowed through the descriptions of evil acts by the villains.
I lapped up the text as it pushed me along. I was willing to accept the incredible premises. Hey, why not?
