I kept reading this book thinking it was going to get better. It was on the verge of being a good book but it could never quite find that missing element. It kind of ends with a whimper rather than with a bang. It did give a very interesting insight into the role of the opium trade in the colonialism of Vietnam and how China, France, Japan and the US profited from opium.
