I recieved an Advanced Reader Copy of The Ressurectionist by A. Rae Dunlap from a Goodreads giveaway. Many thanks to Goodreads, Kensington Publishing, and A. Rae Dunlap!
I was very excited about receiving and reading this book because the cover is beautiful and the description was intriguing. I am a lover of all things macabre and with this being a mix of historical fiction and true crime, it was a match for me.
I found myself reading through this easily and quickly. Our main character James is a fun perspective, with him being a young man venturing outside of his family's interests and his own comfort zone. And we love a passion for science and discovery (the science kind and personal kind)!! Aneurin, our other main character, is such a treat. The whole cast of characters are and I wish we did see more of them fleshed out but I understand the focus being on James and Aneurin. The way their relationship developed flowed really well.
I was really pleased at the pacing of the book and how everything wrapped up really well. I did find myself wanting to read more of James and Aneurin's adventures, especially where things were left off. I can tell the author put a lot of care and attention to this story.
Side note - this will make sense to absolutely no one but for the entirety of the book I imagined Aneurin as Cesare from Big Top Burger.
