The Masked City by Genevieve Cogman

3.0

This was an enjoyable book, much like the Invisible Library it was fun, full of entertaining characters, and a great novel for people who love books.

However, I don't think I quite lived up to the romp that was The Invisible Library. It took a while to really get going and there was something missing from this book which made it less charming... I'm not sure what it was exactly but I felt it's loss.

Saying this was excellent for setting up the largely conflict which I think will dominate the rest of the series between the dragons and the fae. Seeing both groups in their own spheres of power was highly enjoyable and the world building was one of the better part of this book. I look forward to seeing where the drama will be in the next few books and hopefully there will be some development in the relationship between Irene, Kai, and Vale in the next book!
