Cup of Joe by Annabeth Albert
3.0
3* Stars
Meh.
I don't have much to say about this. It was a fairly sweet, daddy-kink story. It was okay, but it didn't hook me or grab my attention much at all throughout. I was glad it wasn't a full novel, as I doubt I'd have finished it.
For me (and I'll probably be told off for saying this) a lot of Annabeth Albert's books have near identical plots and structures. I hate knowing there's going to be a lover's tiff around 3/4 of the way through every one. I also just can't bring myself to enjoy her first person writing. At times I struggled to remember which character's POV I was reading.
I always struggle with kink based sex in stories. I've read some where it works really well and I've really enjoyed the books due to it. Sadly, this wasn't one of those. The book was really sex heavy, and I can't say I particularly enjoyed reading any of it.
Don't get me wrong, this was an easy, low-angst, fairly cosy read. But I think these days, I'm craving more, and so maybe this just wasn't my cup of tea (pun intended).
