i have mixed feelings about this book.
it was interesting to read a book about a love story told in reverse, starting at the break up and ending when they first met. that being said, it was sometimes hard to remember where you were in the timeline of their relationship. but hazel hayes is a great writer and i found myself flying through the first half of this book. strangely, not knowing the main characters name made me feel a bit disconnected from her, though we know everything else about her. then i found myself not as interested towards the end. i felt like i was waiting. for what? i'm not entirely sure. i feel like i was waiting for some sort of resolution or big emotional moment. i didn't want the book to simply end after the day they met, i wanted to be brought back to the present and to know what lessons the main character learned from the last 5 years of her life that we just finished reading about but that didn't happen so i felt disappointed with the ending. but i really enjoyed the writing style and the main character was funny and i loved her friend maya. it certainly had potential, it just didn't fully execute well for me.
