Neverseen is the fourth book of the Keeper of the Lost Cities and boy is it quite the roller coaster ride of events, right up to the last couple chapters. I really enjoy the series and this book continues in that vein, but I am finding myself wishing for some resolution of some of the problems instead of more and more problems continuing to pop up.
At the start of this book we find Sophie and friends running away from the Lost Cities to escape the Council and their stupidity, due to the events at the close of the last book. They finally officially join the Black Swan and while they want them to just learn and develop their skills, this is never how Sophie rolls and there is all kinds of trouble that she can get into.
As I said though it seems like the book just adds all kind of problems to what is already there. The council is still as stupid as ever and expending more energy countering the Black Swan than the Neverseen. The Neverseen are still on the loose and it's unclear what exactly they're trying to get up to. The ogres are involved in some nefarious dealings and seeming like they're trying to cause a war with the elves.
There are some good things that happen in the book as well. Everyone gets to develop their skills a bit more, also adding some unexpected skills due to a detour. You get to meet more of the Black Swan, but don't worry there is still plenty of secrecy around who they really are. We also get to find a couple new friends along the way which was kind of a nice surprise. I kind of like both of them, but it seems a bit early to say how much I like them.
The ending is one of those cliffhanger with bad things going on type of endings which wasn't great, but still the world of Keeper of the Lost Cities does keep you engaged. I do wish that blushing wasn't happening in like every other chapter as it does wind up being very heavily used, but even with that I can't wait to start the next book, which luckily we have waiting at hand to jump right in the next book.
