I liked the characters and writing style of this book, but I struggled to connect to the lessons that the author was clearly trying to spread. It felt like there were messages trying to be shared with the reader but the follow-through wasn't complete.

It's possible, however, that being a white person played a major role in my lack of connection to these messages.
