Ora aqui está o meu primeiro desafio a sério.
Ao longo de O Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo, Saramago partilha connosco a sua visão sobre o Novo Testamento. Por sua vez, neste livro, o foco está sobre os textos do Antigo Testamento desde o Jardim do Éden ao Dilúvio.
Ao longo destas leituras encontrei sempre a dificuldade da memória. Sei que ouvi a versão original destes episódios algures quando era mais nova, mas hoje em dia as lacunas já são tantas que me seria profundamente fácil substituir essas histórias pelas que são contadas por Saramago. No entanto, é evidente a ironia e o humor que o autor consegue atribuir a tais histórias e é também nestas obras que me é mais fácil identificar o talento e o génio de Saramago.
Refletindo, mais uma vez, na relação entre Deus e a humanidade, torna-se evidente que o Deus que Saramago vê é completamente diferente daquele de quem fomos habituados a ouvir falar.
Não havendo muito mais a dizer sobre uma narrativa que reconta uma história há muitos anos partilhada de modo quase universal, resta-me aproveitar para dizer que este livro pode ser uma excelente opção para experimentar as obras do autor por ser de leitura fácil e bastante breve.

Now, here is my first real challenge.
Throughout The Gospel According to Jesus Christ, Saramago shares with us his vision of the New Testament. In this book, however, the focus is on the texts of the Old Testament, from the episode of the Garden of Eden to the Flood.
Throughout these readings I have always encountered the difficulty of memory. I know I heard the original version of these episodes somewhere when I was younger, but these days the gaps are already so many that it would be deeply easy for me to replace these stories with those told by Saramago. However, it is evident the irony and humor that the author can attribute to such stories and it is also in these works that it is easier for me to identify the talent and genius of Saramago.
With little more to say about a narrative that retells a story that has been shared almost universally for many years, I can take the opportunity to say that this book can be an excellent option to experience the author's works because it is easy to read and quite brief.
