Sincerely, Your Inconvenient Wife by Julia Wolf

4.0

I enjoyed this. I thought it was a very solid romance, equally sweet and sexy. The chemistry between Saoirse and Luca was very good. Luca was very sweet towards Saoirse, but I really enjoyed how she took care of him, and vice versa. It was very cute and worked really well for me. I also liked the angst in this book – the final conflict between them felt genuinely painful. I would have liked more of a grovel, but I liked this part of the book.

I didn’t like the major subplot though involving
SpoilerLuca’s brother-in-law, Miller.
It felt way over the top and completely out of step with the rest of the book, it was a really, really weird writing choice for me. A lot of the detail felt so unnecessary and gratuitous.

That aside, though, I really did enjoy it. It was a really good version of the tropes, especially the marriage of convenience; seeing the two characters break their little rules and how it played out – such as them only meeting in hotel rooms despite being married – was so fun, it made it all the more delicious when we finally got to them actually ‘making love’. It was just, as I said at the start of the review, a really solid romance.

Content Notes: Marriage of convenience, one night stand, hidden/mistaken identity, boss/employee, bargains/deals/wagers, forced proximity, friends with benefits, fake relationship.
