Extremely questionable ethics in this book. Not great writing. But if you suspend your disbelief and think about where the rest of the season might go, it’s an ok start. I’ve read a lot of series where I didn’t like the first book. I did like this one, although there are some seriously cringey bits. Poppy is a total idiot, but she was also sheltered, brainwashed, and abused her whole life so I kinda get it. The “twist” really isn’t, but ok.
I was totally hooked. But for the love of God, I hope everyone who reads this is fully aware it’s fiction and not a relationship to emulate.
