Ho. Ly. Smokes. THIS BOOK. I loved every moment. And the writing was phenomenal. There were several times I would stop and reread lines several times purely because of how they were written. The world is so unique and fascinating. The two MCs are perfection. The fact that they are so different, and from completely different backgrounds just made the story that much better. And hallelujah for the dual POV! I would have cried if we didn’t get to read from Kai’s POV. Their banter is top freakin notch. Seriously I was grinning like a fool the entire time. AND THE TENSION, omg you could cut it with a knife. Kai is my newest obsession, the words that came out of his mouth had me squealing. Beyond that, his role in his world and the way he deals with it was so interesting to read about. Paedyn is the newest badass woman to get added to my favs list. I adore her and her strength and cannot wait to see where book 2 takes her. The trials aspect itself isn’t new but they felt unique because of the world and the powers within. Gah, I could go on forever but I just really loved this book and I’m praying I can get my hands on book 2 early cause I’m dying over that ending!
