I read this series ages ago and I quite enjoyed it. Now that i'm old(er) I still somewhat enjoyed this but many parts really irk me. The constant slut shaming is awful, our heroine is so negative towards Aphrodite just because she doesn't like her and caught in a compromising position in the last book. Slut, ho bitch, stank slut, hag, etc are all used way too much. Also, the use of 'retard' is so unnecessary, ignorant, and disgusting. Damien is nothing more than the token gay and I swear he cannot be mentioned without gay also being brought up - he smiles gay, look gayer than usual, gay this, gay that, our gay friend. Come on, make him gay not a stereotype.
The romance is just laughable at best. Our slut shaming queen Zoey is caught between three boys who are sOo in love with her yet we really don't see that many interactions between them. I don't like Heath, he's literally described as "a typical teenage Okie boy, which tended to mean narrow minded homophobe." hard pass on the homophobia. Loren is literally a creep who should not be around children/teenagers. Erik is just not really around much so I'm indifferent.
Another thing I can't stand, 'brown pop'. UGH. It's constant. We get it, she likes brown pop but can we not constantly use the words brown pop. Just get yourself a damn drink, I don't care what it is. It doesn't make you quirky to constantly need or think about damn brown pop.
I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I like the idea behind it and young me really enjoyed it.
Would I recommend this? No.
Will I continue to reread the series because i'm a masochist? Probably.
