The Boy from the Woods by Harlan Coben

4.0

Second book in my 2020 confinement and this is just what I needed. I had tried with the first book of a new fantasy trilogy that was just too demanding in terms of attention and focus. It might be me getting older but I'm having more and more trouble lately with fantasy books that almost require you taking notes and 100 pages to understand the world and its ways of working. As said I needed something entertaining, exciting, with interesting characters, and this is exactly what Harlan Coben delivers. Its been two or three books since I stopped criticizing him for writing over and over the same story about the past coming back to haunt the protagonist. He does repeat this pattern but he also continues to bring pure enjoyment and thrill like in The Boy from the Woods
