Shakti Woman: Feeling Our Fire, Healing Our World by Vicki Noble

3.0

I became more knowledgeable in astrology and the cyclical nature of the female energy (which is what I needed at the moment, a restructuring of how I view my cycles and how I relate to my environment).

I would recommend some sections of the book purely to underline the necessity for humanity (not only women) to become more connected with nature and the "natural" way of things, i.e Moon phases, sacred holidays (Summer solstice, Autumn Equinox etc). Many of the historical details she described I already knew, some I found hard to believe, some were new. It was also interesting to see her journey to awakening (from a Western white-female perspective...).

However, I found how she was dissing everything that technology and modernity achieved quite unappealing. I believe everyone should be able to make their own choices with regards to self-care and medication... we wouldn't be here today if it weren't for modern sanitation and breakthroughs in medical technology. The power of plants and nature is 100% here to stay, but chemistry (albeit hurtful to the environment in many instances) brought our survival rate higher than ever before (whether that is a good or bad thing given the current context - 2020 pandemic- is up for discussion).
